Originally from NYC, KEN DONOVAN has been a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Chorus since 1993 where he has also appeared as a soloist. He most enjoys singing the tenor roles of Puccini and has sung the role of Rodolfo in La Boheme with the Greensboro Opera. His recent solo Oratorio performances include Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah as well as the Bach Magnificat and Christmas Oratorio. A frequent recitalist, Ken appears annually in Lyric Opera Preview Concerts at the First Congregational Church in Western Springs sponsored by the Kennedy Family Foundation as well as at the International Friendship Gardens in Michigan City.
Ken has studied with voice teachers across the USA including Leslie Bennett, Kathryn LaBouff, Deborah Montgomery, Charles Lynam, Diane Forlano and currently with Karen Brunssen. Ken has taught private voice at the Greensboro Music Academy (NC) and Greensboro College. In addition to his home studio, Ken has taught voice lessons at Glenbrook North High School for the past 18 years and is a member of NATS.
